Let everything you do be done in love. ~1 Corinthians 16:14
Five years ago, Kelly walked into Hope Charitable Services looking for a hot meal and a box of groceries for her and her children. Kelly had struggled for months trying to make her meager paycheck cover food, rent, utilities and other necessities.
By the time, Kelly walked in Hope’s doors, she felt exhausted and beat down. But stepping over that threshold transformed her life for good!
Because people like you give, Kelly received a hot, nutritious meal and a box of food generously filled to the brim. She also received a welcoming smile, along with prayer and words of encouragement from each person she met at Hope!
“I came for food for my family,” she says today, “But I also found a community that cares!”
Each month, Hope Charitable Services provides an average 1,400 delicious, hot meals and food boxes, along with the gift of hope to men, women and children living in the Portsmouth area. We can only do this because God leads compassionate people like you to give.
For families like Kelly’s, that box of food is a first step toward hope because it tells someone who needs to hear it, “You are loved. There is hope.” That’s the message Kelly needed to hear that day to make positive and lasting change in her life.
Today, Kelly is the assistant director of operations at Hope Charitable Services, coordinating those hot meals and food boxes we provide to struggling families each week! “I love my job,” she says.
“I understand what each person who comes in is going through, and I know that, when someone receives a box of food or a hot meal right off the stove, they are receiving hope for the future.”
As prices for groceries and gas soar, working poor families in Portsmouth need food—and hope—as never before. “Hope Charitable Services did more than give me a box of food,” Kelly says. “They showed me there can be a better future for me and my children.”
Hope Charitable Services doesn't receive any help from government funding and relies on donations from generous people like yourself. Can you help us today with a one-time or monthly donation so we can continue to serve those who desperately need us every week?
Thank you so very much, and may God Bless You and your Family!
